Marc Fritz, MD

A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Dr. Marc Fritz has been on the front lines of reproductive endocrinology research for more than 30 years. He is thankful for wonderful colleagues and the clinic’s beautiful new facility, but nothing puts a bigger smile on his face than helping individuals realize their dreams of family.

Jennifer Mersereau, MD, MSCI

Described by many as 'knowledgeable, honest and caring,' Dr. Mersereau’s emotional connection to her patients — and her sincere desire to help guide them towards a successful outcome — is undeniable.

Mary Peavey, MD, MSCI

Dr. Mary Peavey was raised in Austin, Texas and attended college at Duke University. After receiving her MD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, she returned to North Carolina where she completed her residency in OB/GYN at Duke University Medical Center.

Steven Young, MD, PhD

As director of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship Training Program, Dr. Young’s time is highly coveted by rising physicians but he will always make time for the one thing he loves most — his patients.

Matt Coward, MD, FACS

Dr. Coward is a highly esteemed urologic surgeon with a specialty in male fertility. He offers a comprehensive range of male reproductive and sexual health services and has a strong reputation for providing outstanding patient care.

Linnea Goodman, MD

Dr. Linnea Goodman, a North Carolina native, completed her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, and her sub-specialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. She is looking forward to helping patients at UNC Fertility achieve their dreams of family.

UNC Fertility Fellows

Dr. Ryan Owen

Dr. Owen is one of the newest members of the UNC Fertility team, starting in July of 2017. He is the inaugural fellow in the Male Reproductive Medicine and Microsurgery Fellowship program under the mentorship of Dr. Matt Coward. As an undergraduate, Dr. Owen played baseball for Lubbock Christian University while earning a major in Human Biology. After receiving his medical degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, he completed a Urology residency at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee. Dr. Owen’s research interests include microsurgical sperm extraction, varicocele repair, effects of nutritional supplementation on male factor subfertility and surgical repair of erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s disease. Along with Dr. Coward, Dr. Owen aspires to provide a comprehensive treatment approach for the infertile couple in collaboration with the UNC Fertility team.

Dr. Jamie Stanhiser

Dr. Jamie Stanhiser grew up in Loma Linda, California. She completed her medical school training from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine after graduating with a double major in Human Biology and Human Development from the University of California, San Diego. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, where she was a leader in her elected position as the Senior Chief Administrative Resident. She joined the UNC Fertility team as a reproductive endocrinology fellow in 2016. Her areas of interest include epigenetics, embryology, infertility, ovarian stimulation, and InVitro Fertilization. Dr. Stanhiser has committed herself and her career to women’s reproductive health as well as their overall wellness in mind, body and spirit. She dedicates her time to teaching, mentoring and research.

Dr. Leah Bressler

Dr. Bressler was raised in Southeastern North Carolina and attended UNC as a Morehead scholar. At UNC, she studied Biology and conducted public health research in Southern and Eastern Africa. She obtained her MD and Masters in Public Health at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health. She then moved to Chicago to complete Obstetrics & Gynecology residency at Northwestern University, where she was elected Education Chief Resident. Her research interests are lifestyle factors and fertility, endometriosis, PCOS, fibroids, and reproductive epidemiology. She is very excited to be back in her home state and training at UNC Fertility.
